Naledi Mokoena is an actor and aspiring director from Lady Grey, a small town in the Eastern Cape. Her passion for the arts began at a young age and was nurtured through formal training in music and dramatic arts at Lady Grey Arts Academy from grades 10 to 12.

Committed to refining her craft, she earned a Diploma in Theatre Arts (Performing Arts) from Tshwane University of Technology and is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts.

As a performer, Naledi has graced the stage in productions such as the Aliwal North Drama Eisteddfod, Lady Grey Passion Play, and The African Story of Takura. Under the mentorship of Johan Hattingh and Bunch Sekhobo, she expanded her artistic range by exploring multiple characters, demonstrating both passion and versatility. In 2022, she joined the cast of Left in the Cracks, directed by Prof. Janine Lewis, followed by a lead role as Seipati Mogale in Toro at the 2023 Zes’khethu Storytelling Festival, directed by Ipeleng Keamogetswe Matlhaku.

Beyond acting, Naledi has taken on key roles in arts administration and social media coordination for the Zes’khethu Storytelling Festival and Abantu Creative Projects.

Her growing interest in directing led her to stage Ipi Zombi at the 2023 FAD Arts Festival. As an emerging director, she is drawn to experimental theatre, exploring philosophical themes, pushing the boundaries of absurdism, and embracing limitless creative possibilities.

Currently based in Pretoria, Naledi works as a fieldworker for the Mayibuye Community Outreach at the South African State Theatre, underscoring her commitment to community engagement, leadership development, and mentorship.

A multidisciplinary artist with intellect, vision, and an unwavering passion for the arts, Naledi Mokoena continues to carve her path as a performer, director, and creative force.
